O.C. startup raises $20 million in venture capital

ReShape Medical Inc., a young San Clemente medical device company working on a treatment for obesity, has raised $20 million in a second round of outside funding.

U.S. Venture Partners in Menlo Park led the round. Other participants include existing investors New Leaf Venture Partners and SV Life Sciences.

ReShape earlier raised $8 million in its first equity round.

O.C. pacemaker firm get venture money

Nanostim Inc., (company doesn’t have a web site) in San Clemente, which is developing tiny cardiac pacemakers without lead, has raised $9.7 million in its first round of outside funding.

Among the investors are InterWest Partners and U.S. Venture Partners.
