Who is Jan Norman?

I’ve been at the Orange County Register so long (since 1981) some of you think I was born here. Alas, I had years of daily news and feature experience at a couple of other daily newspapers before the Register.

I don’t own a small business because I never wanted my small-business coverage to be about me. It’s about you. And the experiences of thousands of entrepreneurs and small-business owners are better than one.

That’s why I’m writing and moderating this blog for small business owners who want to know more about starting, growing and managing their small businesses.

If we all do this right, our collective wisdom and stories will be much more useful and entertaining than one reporter’s stuff.

I also write the It’s Your Business column and other small-business articles for the Orange County Register. In my spare time I have written five books and hundreds of freelance articles for magazines and books on small business.
