Local small-business awards deadline nears

The deadline is Nov. 13 to nominate Orange County businesses and individuals for Small Business Week awards through the U.S. Small Business Administration.
The winners in the Santa Ana SBA district compete for regional and national awards.
Awards are given in these categories:
- Small business person of the year
- Exporter of the year
- Young entrepreneur of the year
- Jeffrey Butland Family-owned business of the year
- Entrepreneurial success (a company that has grown beyond the size of a small business as defined by federal standards)
- Minority small-business champion
- Women-in-business champion
- Veteran small-business champion
- Financial services champion
- Home-based business champion
