CSUF revives directory of O.C. networking groups

Cal State Fullerton’s Center for Entrepreneurship has revived the Directory of Orange County Networking Organizations.ocnetworking-directory

It’s no understatement to say that thousands of Orange County business people used the directory to build their businesses and careers over the years.

The directory, listing more than 600 local groups where people can build business and social relationships, was published for 18 years by Newport Beach resident Susann Linn. But she moved to England, handed off the directory in 2005 and it faded from sight.

Mike Ames, before his retirement as a management professor and founder of the center, and Andrea Hurt, the center’s associate director, arranged to take over the directory.

Center employee Charlesetta Medina has updated the directory and is selling it for $49.95 plus $8 tax, shipping and handling. Proceeds benefit the Center for Entrepreneurship.

The directory lists groups by:

  • Trade associations
  • Women’s groups
  • Chambers of commerce
  • Leads and networking organizations
  • Computer user groups

Medina plans to add a section of professional coaches in future editions.

“Right now it’s available in printed form but next year I would like to have an electronic copy as well,” Medina says.
