Aktino Inc., in Irvine, which provides Ethernet and broadband telecommunications equipment and services, has been bought by Positron Inc., a Canadian telecommunications company.
Terms were not disclosed, but Positron said it will keep Aktino offices in Irvine. It has about 25 employees.
Aktino founded in 2003 is another O.C. technology company started by alumni of PairGain Technologies. The best known follow-on company is Broadcom Inc.
Aktino has raised more than $43 million in venture capital and continues the trend of venture-backed firms being sold to larger companies rather than going public.
