Happiest franchisees: 6 O.C. companies make the list

March 9th, 2009, 5:00 am · 3 Comments · posted by Jan Norman, small-business columnist

Six Orange County franchisors are among the winners of the 2009 Franchisee Satisfaction Awards presented by Franchise Business Review, an industry publication.

The awards are based on surveys of more than 75,000 franchisees in more than 400 companies in North America. It is the fourth time Franchise Business Review has conducted the survey.

The winners headquartered in Orange County are:

  • Budget Blinds, window covering consultants, Orange, #11 among large franchise systems
  • Sir Speedy, printing and copying, Mission Viejo, #15 among large systems
  • Aussie Pet Mobile, dog and cat grooming, Dana Point, #16 among large systems
  • El Pollo Loco, Mexican chicken quick service restaurants, Costa Mesa, #21 among large systems
  • PIP Printing & Document Services, Mission Viejo, #22 among mid-sized systems
  • TeamLogic IT, techology maintenance and repair, Mission Viejo, #2 among systems with fewer than 50 units.

Sir Speedy, PIP and TeamLogic are all owned by Franchise Services Inc., a management company.

Aussie Pet Mobile and TeamLogic IT also won top honors in their industry categories.

In past years, Franchise Business Review has named 50 companies in large, mid-sized and under 50 units categories, but this year, it identified 115 franchisors total: 44 large, 44 mid-sized and 25 small.

The review surveys franchisees to measure how satisfied they are to own a franchise. The questions range from training and support to system quality to relationship with the franchisor.

“With all the doom and gloom news about the economy lately, it’s great to see that the very best franchise systems are still performing well for their franchise owners,” said Eric Stites, president and CEO of Franchise Business Review.

Is there a saddest or sorriest list for franchisees? I bet Quizno’s is on there.

Yeah, Quiznos bites it big time. The whole 1 million free subs totally boomed and I was livid. It turns out my local franchise felt that they already had low prices they didn’t feel the need to participate in the free sub. As it turns out lots of other places felt the same. I’m sure 1 million free subs was actually a few thousand. I sent an e-mail to Quiznos and they sent a reply with a link to a site where I could mark a multiple choice response to the problem I had regarding my inability to use the free coupon. I suppose I might be getting another free sub coupon in the mail that I won’t be able to use too. I’ve blacklisted Quizno’s or at least the one that denied me my free sub. They suck!

If Kinko’s qualifies, I bet it would be at the top.
