Costa Mesa attorney Thomas L. Wilson is one of 10 to make the list of “Most Dependable Litigation Attorneys of California” appearing in the November issue of Forbes magazine.

Wilson is a partner with Pivo, Halbreich, Martin, Wilson & Amo LLP specializing in business torts, toxic torts, construction defects, product liability, commercial contracts, insurance and railroad law.

He is the only Orange County attorney to make the list.

He has the highest rating for professional excellence from the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory and was named to the 2007 list of Super Lawyers of Southern California in the New York Times and Los Angeles Magazine.

The Most Dependable Litigation list was compiled by Goldline Research, an independent research firm in Novato. It has compiled industry lists for everything from wealth managers to laser eye surgeons.

To qualify for the Most Dependable Litigation list, attorneys must be members of the California State Bar, specialize in litigation, have more than 20 years of experience, have outstanding references and no unresolved lawsuits or grievances.

The designation “conveys to consumers that these are high-quality service providers,” said Goldline spokeswoman Victoria Coryelle. For the attorneys “it is a way to differentiate themselves from their competitors.

Wilson has been on the Panel of Arbitrators of Orange County Superior Court, chairman of the Board of Directors of Mariners Church in Newport Beach and an adjunct professor at Biola University in La Mirada.

  • Cool! Thomas L. Wilson deserves it, and he is the best attorney that I know! He is as every bit of what the awards says he is as well as being one of the nicest guys around.

Isn’t this just a press release? I don’t think this is really a Forbes designation - rather, it is from a Forbes advertising supplement that “Goldline Research” purchases. Goldline charges the lawyer for the designation. It admits this on its own website: “a fee may be required to offset the publishing costs of the research guide. Fees are variable and depend on the publication. We charge fees simply because we are independent of the respective publications in which our research guides appear”

  • In the Know says:

to dubious: FYI: No, it’s not a paid advertisement. The list of ‘most dependable’ inclueds many service industries and only those that pass mustard are recognized. There is a commercial arm to Forbes advertising, but this is not it.
