Santa Ana tech repairs among the priciest

Santa Ana has one of the highest hourly rates for technology repairs among U.S. cities, according to a quarterly report from OnForce, the world’s largest marketplace for information technology service pros.

The only cities where such help costs more Frankin, Tenn., and Warwick, Rhode Island.

The reasons are difficulty of the jobs and not enough IT fixers, the report says.

“There are a number of reasons why a city may have higher hourly rates than average,” OnForce said. “In most of these cities, we observed that demand outstripped supply.

“It is also noteworthy that the average work order size in these cities was $256, approximately 50% higher than the national average, indicating that the service events in these markets are large and/or more complex,” the report continued.

Irvine was on the list in the first quarter.

Ironically, California - which has the nation’s largest IT economy - is much more reasonably priced than Santa Ana It ranks 35th in hourly rates among the states. It is getting more pricy.  California ranked 43nd in hourly rates in the first quarter.

The types of technology included in this report are VoIP, telephones, security, wiring and cabling, consumer electronics, computer networking, desktop and laptop computers, servers, printers, software and retail (point-of-sale) computers.

OnForce, with more than 750,000 work orders completed, is the world’s largest marketplace for IT service professionals. More than 13,000 registered IT service people work in this marketplace.

OnForce said this is the only real-world information of its type in the world and it makes the data available to help IT service firms expand profitably.

“We believe that informed leaders make better decisions, and that accurate data holds the key to making fast, good decisions,” the report said.

It’s because nobody speaks English in Santa Ana! A linguistics service fee is added to all service calls which originate in SA. Everyone in the IT business knows that!
