Club Libby Lu in Downtown Disney, the happenin’ place for “tween” girls, has added a libby-lu-logo.jpgprototype animated photo studio by Get Flipped!a technology company in Orange.

If the store’s clientele flips for the do-it-yourself action photos,  Get Flipped studios could crop up in more of the 87 stores in the Chicago-based chain in the next 12 months, said Get Flipped President Raleigh Souther.

“Tweens” are girls from age 5 to 13, according to the Club Libby Lu Web site. There are 18 million of them in the United States.

Get Flipped takes photos of a subject in two different poses ,and then combines them so that holding the photograph one way shows one of the images and turning it slightly reveals the other image.get-flipped-logo.jpg It simulates action for $10.

Get Flipped started in 2004 as an entertainment draw at events such as parties, trade shows and fundraisers. The move into retail stores would be a major expansion for the young company.

Part of Libby Lu’s appeal is the opportunity for young girls to dress up like a rock star or princess. The “animated” photos are ideal for young girls, Souther said. “Kids will have fun posing like Sharpay (of High School Musical) or creating before-and-after makeover Flip Photos.”
