Tip of the Day: Gas pain more than price

June 25th, 2008, 1:00 am · 1 Comment · posted by Jan Norman, small-business columnist

Today’s tip comes from tax attorney Roni Deutch Staff of Watch Me Franchise.

The price of gasoline is having a major impact on small businesses, but the impact is broader than just the gas-flipp.jpgprice at the pump. Here are some other ways small businesses feel the gas pain:

  1. Increased shipping costs.
  2. Fewer job applicants. Many unemployed job seekers will only apply to companies close to home.
  3. Less drive-by traffic for shops dependent on people passing by.
  4. Customers have less disposable income because all their money goes for gas.
