ElectronVault Inc., a Bay Area company that is developing efficient, safe battery packs for large uses such as hybrid cars like the Toyota Prius, received the best overall award for the Tech Coast Angels 2008 Fast Pitch Competition May 19 at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel.
Linda Maepa, a Cal Tech graduate, was judged to be the best overall, encompassing 60% how good the possibility of getting funding and 40% the quality of the presentation.
“I think we have reached a time when comprehensive, game-changing solutions are needed,” Maepa said after the event. Her company is seeking $2 million in angel funding to get its battery packs into mass production by 2009.

Corent Technology Inc, in Aliso Viejo which builds custom software 10 times faster at a 10th the cost, won both the best funding opportunity and People Choice award voted by the more than 400 people who attended the evening event following the Harvard Business School Association’s 24th Entrepreneurs Conference.
Lesa Glucroft of Tulip Boutique Inc., which has licensing rights for robe and skin care products bearing official seals of the United States, Air Force One and th White House, won best presentation.
