Tip of the Day: How to hire an SEO company

April 1st, 2008, 1:00 am · 1 Comment · posted by Jan Norman

Today’s tip comes from Matthew Peschong, founder of Mankato Web Design, a Minneapolis firm that offers search engine optimization web.jpgservices.

Search engine optimization (usually referred to as SEO) is not pay-per-click ads. It’s a method of optimizing the code on your Web site and other Web sites that link to your site to get your site organically to the top of the search engines.

An SEO company that guarantees rankings on the search engines is doing one of two things. They are lying and will take your money and run (because no SEO company owns the search engines), or they take your money and put it into a pay-per-click campaign while pocketing a percentage of it for themselves.
