Tip of the Day: Managing your phone/data account

October 8th, 2007, 12:28 am · 1 Comment · posted by Jan Norman, small-business columnist

Today’s tip is from Janet Atkins, area manager for business development in Anaheim for AT&T California, ATT.com.

This is a good tip for any size business. However, smaller businesses typically have the president or office manager managing the phone/data account, and they get busy.

Sometimes it’s hard to remember on the fly every little detail or spec about the phone system.

I recommend organizing all info into a file or notebook the number of line, DSL line number, any circuit ids, customers service records, IP address info and all necessary numbers (repair, tech support etc).

It’s great to make several copies and give to the proper employees as well as posting near the router or phone panel.

Share your knowledge to help small businesses succeed. Send a tip of the day to me at jnorman@ocregister.com. If I use yours, I’ll use your name, company and Web site.
